Listen, sending money shouldn’t have to take days to reach an account, expensive wire transfer fees, or complicated money transfer services. No doubt about it, Bitcoin ATMs have revolutionized how we send money, and they offer a secure and convenient way to send money to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Unlike conventional money transfer services that require extensive verification, multiple forms of ID, and often take days to process, Bitcoin ATMs let you send money in minutes with minimal friction. This makes them perfect for emergency situations, international transfers, or when you need to move money quickly without the bureaucratic hassle of traditional banking systems.

How to Send Money Using a Bitcoin ATM

Sending money through a Bitcoin ATM is surprisingly straightforward, even if you’re new to cryptocurrency. The process typically takes just a few minutes and doesn’t require any special technical knowledge. Here’s how to complete a money transfer transaction:

step 1

Find a Hermes Bitcoin ATM Near You

Locate the nearest Hermes Bitcoin ATM using our online map. With machines strategically placed throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, you’ll never be far from a convenient location. Our ATMs operate 24/7, so you can send money whenever you need to.

step 2

Verify Your Phone Number

At the machine, you’ll need to verify your identity using your phone number. Simply enter your mobile number and wait for the SMS verification code. This makes sure the transaction is secure, but keeps the process quick and simple.

step 3

Insert Cash or Use Your Debit Card

Deposit the cash amount you want to send, or use your debit card if the machine supports card transactions. The ATM will display the equivalent Bitcoin amount based on current exchange rates, minus any transaction fees.

step 4

Scan the Recipient's Wallet QR Code

This is by far the most important step – you’ll need the recipient’s Bitcoin wallet address or QR code. The recipient can share this with you through their mobile wallet app. Simply scan the QR code using the ATM’s built-in scanner, or manually enter the wallet address if needed.

step 5

Confirm the Transaction Details

Review all transaction information carefully, including the recipient wallet address, the amount being sent, and the total fees. Once you confirm, the Bitcoin ATM will process your transaction immediately.

step 6

Transaction Complete

Your money is now on its way! Bitcoin transactions typically confirm within 10-30 minutes, meaning your recipient will have access to their funds almost instantly. You’ll receive a transaction receipt with all the details for your records.

Why Use a Bitcoin ATM to Send Money?

Traditional money transfer methods are often slow, expensive, and unnecessarily complicated. Here’s how Bitcoin ATMs stack up against conventional alternatives.

Compared to Bank Wire Transfers:

Bank wires can take 1-5 business days, require both parties to have bank accounts, and often cost $15-50 per transaction. Bitcoin ATMs process transfers in minutes, don't require bank accounts, and typically charge lower fees for the speed and convenience provided.

Compared to Money Transfer Services:

Services like Western Union or MoneyGram require extensive ID verification, have limited operating hours, and charge high fees (often 5-10% of the transfer amount). Bitcoin ATMs offer more privacy, operate 24/7, and provide transparent fee structures.

Compared to P2P Exchanges

While peer-to-peer crypto exchanges might seem similar, they lack the security and simplicity of Bitcoin ATMs. P2P exchanges require finding trustworthy counterparties, negotiating rates, and managing complex escrow systems. Bitcoin ATMs eliminate these risks while providing instant liquidity.

Hermes Bitcoin ATM Advantages:
  • Instant transfers - Money moves in minutes, not days
  • No bank involvement – Perfect for unbanked or underbanked individuals
  • Low friction process  – Simple for both sender and recipient
  • Enhanced privacy – Minimal personal information required
  • 24/7 availability – Send money anytime, anywhere
